Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas (MIOG) offers training in oil & gas related areas. The institute was begun pursuant to the 3rd Heads of State Summit held in Kigali Rwanda on October 28th, 2013 and attended by Heads of State from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan. The meeting resolved to establish Centres of Excellence in the region to offer the capacity building for the Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIP).
Institutions that specialize in areas of interest to member states were then tasked with the responsibility of setting up the centers. Kenya Pipeline Company Ltd (KPC) fell under this category. KPC (http://www.kpc.co.ke) then established MIOG to offer competency based education and training in Oil & Gas Pipelines Management, Operations, and Maintenance. The project is in sync with the company’s ‘Vision 2025’ that aims at setting up an oil and gas investments hub in the region.

MIOG, therefore, taps from KPC’s unequaled experience spanning over 37 years in Oil and Gas sub sectors. In readiness for the challenge, Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas has developed training programs in five main areas. Each course has a number of units of competence which are independent of each other.
MIOG courses are unique and the first in the country and the region. It is the third Oil and Gas Institute in Africa after Transnet of South Africa and Sonatrach of Algeria. The institute has therefore pioneered Competence Based Education Training (CBET) training for industry professionals. The courses are authentic and are approved by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) in Kenya
